Why don't conditions load sometimes?

Swellz uses free public forecast services (Open-Meteo, NOAA). During brief outages or heavy load they can rate-limit requests — pull to refresh, or try again in a few minutes.

How do I add a spot?

Tap the + button to search by name, open the map to browse breaks near you, or add a fully custom spot by dropping a pin and setting its shoreline direction.

My spot has no offshore/onshore rating.

That spot needs a shoreline direction. Open the spot and tap “Set the shoreline direction” to point it the way the beach faces the ocean.

How does the board quiver work?

Add the boards you own (type, length, fins, color — width/thickness/volume can be auto-estimated). On any spot, Swellz scores each board 0–10 for the current conditions and “equips” the best one.

Does the Apple Watch app need my phone?

No. The watch app fetches conditions on its own over Wi-Fi or cellular. It syncs your saved spots from the phone when they're together.

How do I turn alerts on or off?

Go to Settings in the app to toggle Dawn Patrol, Epic Conditions, and Ideal Match alerts.
